Again, it's been a while since I've updated here. I'm still working on that assassin manuscript but couldn't find the right music for it. I'd thought Collective Soul was the band, but alas, they aren't completely right.
Turns out my manuscript flows better to The Foo Fighters! As you may have noticed, I am a rock/alt. rock fan, but I don't own any of their albums. Thankfully my husband has one and I use Deezer to stream their other albums when I write. Listening to them has made me want to re-watch Sonic Highway.
It's been a while since I've updated my "What I'm Listening To" page, mostly because I've been editing past projects rather than writing anything new.
However, at the start of February 2017 I embarked on a new work in progress that's different from what I normally write. It's more magic realism featuring an assassin.
I never thought Collective Soul would be a fit for a manuscript about an assassin. But here I am, listening to them for this one. I've been a Collective Soul fan since their beginning, and have seen them in concert twice (once at EdgeFest, which was such an amazing day).
I'm sure as I get into edits and work on fleshing out certain aspects of the story, my soundtrack for this one will grow.
As of May 2016, I've embarked on writing yet another urban fantasy story while I continue to query the first and edit the sequel in that series.
This new one is set in the current time and includes different pantheons. At this time, White/Rob Zombie seems to be the soundtrack. There is one scene that came to me while listening to Chris Cornell's Preaching The End of The World, and the song is such a perfect fit I almost cried writing the scene!
The sequel to my urban fantasy manuscript is written from another character's perspective and deals with various issues, including drug addiction.
For this one, the female character has chosen Alice in Chains, Melissa Auf der Maur, and 7 Year Bitch as her main music.
My urban fantasy manuscript is slightly futuristic.
This one has chosen Chris Cornell, Soundgarden, and Audioslave as its soundtrack.
